UNB, Chittagong :Police have pressed charges against nine people in a case filed in connection with the recovery of 20 kg gold from an electronics warehouse in the city.Inspector of Detective Branch of Chittagong Metropolitan Police Keshab Chakrabarti submitted a charge-sheet before the Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Tuesday. The charge-sheeted accused are M Jasim Uddin and Bhabatosh Biswas Rana, owners of warehouse ‘AC Mela’; Jasim’s brother Emran; Fazlul Hoque, one of the owners of Amin Brothers, Gias Uddin Titu, Farid, Rubel, M Shoeb and Abu Taher.Being tipped off that gold was being smuggled under the cover electronic accessories in AC Mela, a team of police conducted a raid there on April 8, 2015 and recovered 20 kg of gold.They also arrested Emran and Titu during the drive.Later, sub-inspector of Sadarghat Police Station Anwar Hossain filed a case with his police station.
