Charges against 5 Kishoreganj Razakars taken into cognizance

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 on Wednesday took seven charges of crimes against humanity against five alleged Razakars from Kishoreganj.
Justice M Enayetur Rahim, chairman of the three-member panel of ICT-1, passed the order on Wednesday morning.
According to the prosecution, Gazi Abdul Mannan, 88, the alleged commander of Karimganj Razakar camp in Kishoreganj, his cohorts Nasiruddin Ahmed, 62, and his brother Shamsuddin Ahmed, 60, Hafiz Uddin, 66, and Azharul Islam, 60, were “involved” in crimes like mass killing, torture and arson.
Of the five, only Shamsuddin is in jail now as the law enforcing agencies are yet to lay their hands on the rest.
The prosecution on May 10 submitted the formal charge against the five, bringing seven charges of crimes against humanity. The tribunal set May 31 as the next date of hearing.
