The International Crimes Tribunal-2 on Tuesday took cognisance of the charge brought against detained Forkan Mallik, now a BNP activist of Patuakhali, in the case of crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War.
With the accused in the dock, the three-member tribunal, headed by Justice Obaidul Hassan, passed the order, after perusing the formal charge submitted by the prosecution and the relevant documents relating to the war crimes case.
Passing the order, the tribunal fixed December 9 for hearing on charge framing.
On October 27, the investigation agency of the International Crimes Tribunals finalised its investigation report against war crimes-suspect Forkan, also a former activist of Muslim League (Convention) in Pakistan period that opposed the Liberation War of Bangladesh.
The prosecution proposed eight charges of the 1971 crimes against humanity like killing, genocide, rape, deportation, loot, arson attack and forcible conversion of Hindus to Muslims.
