A court of Dhaka on Sunday fixed February 25, to hear on charge framing against 46 BNP leaders and activists in a case filed with Tejgaon Police Station for setting a bus on fire in front of the Prime Minister’s office.
Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court Magistrate Harun-or-Rashid passed the order on Sunday afternoon after hearing.
BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas, Joint Secretary General Amanullah Aman and BNP International Affairs Secretary Najimuddin Alam appeared to the court on the occasion.
Advocate Sanaullah Miah submitted petitions seeking time on behalf of 42 leaders and activists including Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee member and retired Brigadier General Hannan Shah. The time petition also says that BNP leaders including Mirza Fakhrul, MK Anwar, Dr Khandaker Mosharraf, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anne could not come to the court. Besides, he sought a new date for hearing on charge framing in the case,
On July 31, 2012, the charge sheet of the case was submitted against the 46 leaders and activists. The case was filed against them on April 29 last year for torching a bus.
