Principal Moulana Mostafa Kamal, 19-party backed Upazila Vice chairman candidate of Charfashion was attacked by some Awami League men at Gosherhat Launch Ghat area on Saturday morning. The attackers numbering about 30 swooped on the supporters of Principal
Mostafa Kamal when they were in an election campaign in the area. Some motor cycles of the supporters of Mostafa Kamal were also damaged in the attack, it is alleged.
Mostafa Kamal accompanied by some of his supporters were in an election campaign when suddenly ruling party activists attacked on them, eye witnesses told the media. Mostafa Kamal was also injured in the attack.
Meer Sharif Hossain, General Secretary of Upazila Jamat said that they have sought help of the administration to conduct peaceful campaign.
Officer in Charge of Charfashion thana Abul Bashar said that there was a rumour of abduction of Mostafa Kamal. But when the report of the attack was brought to their notice they have sent force to the spot. One magistrate with his team also rushed to the spot of the incident, he said.
In another incident some ruling party men allegedly attacked the dwellings of Altab Hossain, an election agent of newly elected Upazila Chairman of Singra, Natore Advocate Abul Kalam Azad. Some ruling party men allegedly went to the house of Altab at Bildhar on Friday night. In his absence they attacked the inmates of the house including his daughter Sweety Khantun (17). The attackers also damaged three houses and his shop, it is alleged.
Sweety was taken to Singra Upazila Health Complex for her treatment. Altab sought security of their life and property.
Upazila chairman Advocate Abul Kalam brought the matter to the notice of the administration, he said. Singra thana Officer in charge Shafiqul Islam told the media that girl has been admitted to the hospital.
