Char people boosting economic dev rearing cattle head

Thousands of extremely poor people living rural area specially char areas of seven upazilas of the district have successfully overcome abject poverty through cattle head rearing.
The domestic cattle head rearing in the rural areas is boosting economic development of the people from the last few years with the assistance of animal resource department.
The people of the areas, cutting the poverty rate in the district, have started changing socio-economic condition and educating their children. It is also keeping very important role for removing the existing protein deficiency.
Most of the house wives of the char areas of Harirampur, Daulatpur and Shibalaya upazilas work hard for oxen rearing at their houses for selling during the holy Eid-ul -Azha. A number of farmers said, their women take necessary care of their cattle heads regularly and working hard to change their luck.
Mizanur Rahman Tota, a union parishad member of Baghutia said the
farmers of char areas rear the cattle heads at their houses for selling during the Eid-ul-Azha every year which is considered as the extra income.
Besides, some farmers have been rearing cows to produce milk.
Tozammel Huq Toza, Upazila Chairman, Daulatpur said, thousands of char farmers have changed their life style rearing cattle and most of the farmers of the areas are maintaining their lives selling milk.
District animal resource officer Dr. Farhadul Alam said many farmers have started mini cattle farm with own initiative in the district and they give necessary suggestion to the cattle farmers to develop their domestic farms.
Community Clinic inaugurated at Singair: Newly built Khasherchar Community Clinic in Dhalla Union of Singair upazila of the district was inaugurated on Friday. Renowned folk singer Momtaz Begum, MP, from Manikganj-2 constituency, formally inaugurated the clinic as the chief guest at a function.
Local leaders and activists of Awami League and its associate bodies were present on the occasion. Momtaz said the present government has been implementing various development works in all sectors including health.She urged the countrymen to re-elect Awami League in the next general election for continuing development in the country.Presided over by Singair Upazila Parishad Vice Chairman Anwara Khatun, Upazila Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr Md Sekander Ali, Assistant Engineer of Health Engineering Department Mohsin Ali Mia and Upazila Awami League Joint Secretary Md Saidur Rahman spoke at the function. The Health Engineering Department with financial assistance of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) constructed the community clinic at a cost of Tk.13, 65,000. The people of the areas will be benefited through the community clinic, local health department officials said.
