The oldest man in Chandpur died at his home at Hamankordi village under Moshadi union in Chandpur Sadar Upazila on Friday . His name was Mofazzal Gazi. He lived a simple life, was physically well despite century old age and used to go to mosque on time.
On Friday, he suddenly fell ill and died silently with tasweeh in right hand with Jikir.
He was 135 years – said his family sources. He left behind his only son, relatives and friends and admirers to mourn his death. Local people regarded him very much said Prof Salehuddin Jinnah, local UP Chairman Moniruzzaman Manik and other elite of Moishadi Union. He was buried at his family graveyard after namaj-e-janaja in the afternoon. UP Chairman Moniruzzaman Manik said, at least one thousand people attended his funeral prayer.
He himself predicted that that he would die on Friday and it happened exactly.
A pall of gloom descended following his death.
