UNB, Comilla :A panel mayor of Chandina municipality was killed as a covered van knocked down his motorcycle on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway at Kather Pool in Chandina upazila early Saturday.The deceased was identified as Mezbah Uddin Babul, 40, a resident of Chandina upazila.Sohel Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Moinamoti Highway Police Station, said the accident took place in the area at around 1.00 am when a Chittagong-bound covered van from Dhaka hit a motorcycle Babul was ridding while he was going to Daudkandi, leaving him dead on the spot. Police recovered the body and handed it over to the deceased’s family members.
