Chandan Roy Chowdhury is a son of Khulna’s noted photographer Tushar Roy Chowdhury. He showed his interest in photography to see his father. As a part of life’s continuation, he completed Honours in Fine Arts from Khulna Art College. Later he completed masters in direction from Dhaka’s Stamford University. In media, he started to work as art director in Ferdous Hasan Rana and Sajjad Sumon-directed serial Mohanogor. Then he also designed set of mega serial Gulshan Avenue. From there he shifted his career as cameraperson in play Good. He got offer to work with cinematographer Rashed Zaman as his assistant. He worked with Rashed for one and half years.
Chandan first worked as cinematographer in music video of Rizvi Wahid’s song Chokher Polokey. He worked with Tanjin Tisha in the video. Later he also made music videos of Puja’s song Brishti, Imran’s Firey Eshona, Dhoa, E Jibone Jare Cheyechhi, Tahsan’s Mon Karigor, Tanjib Sarwar’s Dubey Dubey.
As cinematographer, Chandan first worked in Anonno Mamun-directed film Ami Shudhu Cheyechhi Tomai. Then he also worked in same role in Shamim Ahmed Roni’s movie Mental, Saikat Nasir’s Desha-The Leader, Iftekhar Chowdhury’s Bijli, Mostafa Kamal Raz’s Samrat, Idris Haider’s Nil Foring, etc.
While talking about his working plan Chandan said, “When I was studying in Fine Arts I always wanted to make film. I am taking preparation in this regard and also stepping forward. After fulfilling my dream I will marry. In fact, I want to continue my life with challenges.”
