Former bowling coach Champaka Ramanayake has been given green signal to join BCB as bowling consultant coach.
This will be Sri Lankan’s Champaka’s second tenure with BCB as he earlier worked as Bangladesh fast bowling coach between 2008 and 2010.
Ramanayake met the Tigers at their practice venue on Thursday morning. BCB Media manager Rabid Imam informed BSS on telephone that Champaka Ramanayake will also be working as bowling consultant for HP squad and other national cricket levels.
It’s understood that he will be working closely with players that are omitted from the Bangladesh upcoming Test series against Australia at home – some of the omitted players are likely to be considered for the South Africa series.
Ramanayake is expected to travel to South Africa with the Tigers during their Test tour scheduled in the coming month of the September. Tigers will be playing two Test matches, three ODI’s and two T20’s in their South African tour.
Former Australian cricketer Stuart MacGill was supposed to join the Tigers for three months as spin bowling coach. However, it’s been confirmed that MacGill won’t be able to arrive at this moment and the Tigers are looking at alternatives in the form of India’s Sunil Joshi and Venkatapathy Raju – the matter is to be decided within the next two days.
