Court Correspondent :A court of Dhaka on Thursday passed orders to send Tazreen Fashions’ Chairman Mahmuda Akhter Mita to jail after rejecting her bail petition in a case filed about the devastating fire in 2012 that claimed 112 lives.Dhaka’s Senior Judicial Magistrate Kazi Shahidul Islam passed the order after hearing on the bail, seeking fresh bail. Earlier, Mita’s lawyer Golam Gous filed the petition.Mahmuda Akhter Mita, also wife of Managing Director Delwar Hossain, who is now in jail, surrendered to the court in the morning while Additional Public Prosecutor Anwarul Babul opposed the bail plea. Earlier, on March 20, another Dhaka Court rejected her bail petition and directed her to appear in a sub-ordinate court within 15 days, which ends today (Friday).On February 12, Public Prosecutor Khandaker Abdul Mannan of Dhaka’s District and Sessions Judge’s Court filed a revision case with the court opposing Mita’s bail. On February 10, Dhaka’s Chief Judicial Magistrate Md Ismail granted her bail and she was released from the jail the following day.On February 9, a Dhaka court sent MD and owner of the garments Delwar, and his wife Mita to jail rejecting their bail plea. On December 22, police submitted the charge sheet of the case against 13 people, including the chairman and the MD of the garments factory.The case was lodged with Ashulia Police Station in connection with the fire. Later, the case was transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
