M M Jasim :Leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League, student wing of ruling Awami League, are passing busy time after an unusual long gap of two years, the much-awaited 28th central council is going to be held tomorrow (Saturday). Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to be present at the two-day long session as chief guest.Centering the council, the Dhaka University campus has virtually wears a festive look as colourful banners and festoons have been set up at different points of the university. The leaders have to maintain a tight schedule for campaigning. The Madhu’s Canteen is seen brimming with life as leaders and activists of the organisation meet and discuss the upcoming Council. Leaders expecting posts in the central and DU units are meeting their followers in the canteen everyday.Leaders expecting a post in the next Council have already began lobbying with their seniors to try and hold the loyalty of their activists to the former central leaders of BCL.Some of the aspirants have been contacting with the Awami League high-ups since the announcement of the council to get better position in the central committee. A total of 80 forms for President post were sold, while 162 were sold for General Secretary post. Meanwhile, some heavyweight candidates are going to loose their hope to be the central president or general secretary due to age limitations.
