CEE students of SUST demand withdrawal of expulsion on fellows

Students of Civil and Environmental Engineering department of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) put the main gate of the university under lock and key demanding withdrawal of the expulsion order on two of their fellows over their alleged involvement in ragging.
The students took position in front of the main gate of the university with placards and festoons around 7am and locked the main gate.
They also chanted slogans demanding withdrawal of the expulsion order on two students of their department, who were expelled for their alleged involvement in ragging.
Besides, the protesters halted plying of buses carrying students and teachers on the campus. Following the incident, an altercation took place between the general students and the protesters.
Earlier, the authorities of SUST expelled four students and suspended three others for different terms on different charges, including ragging freshers.
Two students – Ashik Ahmed Himel and Md Hamidur Rahman Rangan, students of Civil and Environmental Engineering department of session 2016-17, were expelled for their involvement in ragging six freshers.
Moreover, Md Mahmudul Hasan and Shah Riaz Jaman were suspended for two years while Ishtiaque Ahmed for one year.
