CDA to inspect tilted buildings from today

A five-member Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) technical expert team led by its deputy chief town planner Shahinul Islam Khan will start physical inspection of tilted buildings from today ( Tuesday)
A technical committee comprising experts was formed at a meeting yesterday , following recommendation about the buildings affected by Wednesday’s earthquake.
The committee member are former vice Chancellor of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) Dr Jahangir Alam, head of Civil Engineering Department of CUET Abdur Rahman Bhuiyan, CDA Deputy Chief Town Planer Shahinul Islam Khan, CDA authorised officers Mohammad Shamim and Mohammad Ilias.
 Earlier, CDA has completed a primary inspection and identified nine buildings in different areas of the port city that tilted slightly due to Wednesday’s earthquake.The building owners were asked to submit the structural designs of the buildings and the names of the engineers involved in the construction by Monday.
Besides, a three-member probe body formed Wednesday by CDA ordered the building owners to demolish partially two buildings at Halishahor area Friday morning. The probe team led by CDA deputy chief town planer Shahinul Islam Khan also marked two buildings risky and unsafe after inspecting those at WASA and Jubilee road area on Thursday.
Shahinul Islam Khan said the decision on the future course of action about the rest seven buildings will be taken after further physical inspection by experts today.
