Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) has taken up the long cherished project to get rid of acute water logging problem and tidal surge in a major part of the city.
The road nearly 8.5-kilometre long, 24-feet height from the sea level and stretching from Shah Amanat Bridge to Kalurghat Bridge will be constructed on the west bank of the river Karnaphuli. CDA has already completed tender procedures on January last and approval of the construction works are now awaiting from the purchase committee of Housing and Public Works Ministry, Project Director (PD) of the project Rajib Das told journalists
“We hope that the construction works of the much waited embankment-cum- marine drive will start by the first week of March after receiving the approval of the purchase committee from the concerned ministry,” he said. PD Rajib Das told BSS that survey of the feasibility study and design for construction of the 60-feet road widening has already been completed. CDA has already completed acquisition of 59.50 hectares of land to construct 12 regulators and pump houses, 2,12,500 square metres of slab protection, sand filling, consultation, survey and procurement of vehicles, he added.
He also said the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2020. Meanwhile CDA is going to implement another big mega project at a cost of Tk.5616 crores as desired by the Prime Minister recently. Primary task of this mega project likely to start from this month , a reliable sources said.
Nasir holds meeting with NGO representatives : A coordination meeting of 88 NGOs working in chittagong was held at city corporation hall yesterday with city mayor AJM Nasir Uddin as chief guest.
Representatives of 88 NGOs were present in it. The chief guest in his brief deliveraitons said NGOs are extending services in the city area beside the services of the corporation.
He asked the NGO to go side by side with the CCC for their services for the overall interst of the city dweleers. He also hoped, NGO will assist the works of the CCC . He advised the stakeholders and beneficiaries to hold coordination meeting in every 3 moths.
