City watchdog of the port city- Chattogram Development Authority constituted a 7-member committee aimed at prevention of pollution in Halda river.
The committee will review the planning of Annayna residential area, installation of ETP in Chandgaon area, excavation of Bamanshahi canal .CDA chairman Abdus Salam constituted this committee on Wednesday with CDA board member Jasimuddin as convenor and Engr. Rajib Das as member secretary of the committee.
Convenor of the committee Jashim uddin told that following the demands of the Halda River Protection committee, this committee was formed.
Elephant kills elderly man A wild elephant trampled an elderly man to death in Mohammedpur area of Anowara upazila yesterday morning.
The deceased was identified as Abdur Rahman, 70, of the area.
Dulal Hossain, officer-in-charge ofAnowaraPolice Station, said the elephant attacked the elderly man at dawn while he was going to a nearby mosque to perform Fazr prayers.
Saddam Hossain, a member ofBoiragUnion Parishad, said wild elephants frequently get down from Deang Hill and damaged houses and crops in the area.
