‘CDA achieves desired dev’

Minister for Housing and Public Works Engr. Mosharaf Hossain said , city watchdog Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) has achieved desired development in the port city during the tenure of Chairman Abdus Salam. He disclosed this while addressing the annual prize giving ceremony of sports competition and guardians rally of CDA Girls School and College at Mohra, Chandgaon in city held on Tuesday at school premises as Chief Guest.
 Chairman of CDA Abdus Salam was present as special guest. The chief guest in his deliberations said, during post liberation period, when Father of the Nation Bangabandhu was working for development of education, culture and economic prosperity through adopting grand master plan but on that time the defeated forces in collaboration with foreign conspirators Bangabandhu was killed in 1975 and the country went into dark .
 But following the assumption of power in 1996, daughter of Bangabandhu Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina brought the dynamism of that unfinished work of the Bangabandu which became successful again after assumption of state power in 2008. He said present govt has established a number of school and colleges in rural and urban areas for attaining the desired goal of the country in education and economically solvent.
He said, Prime Minister has also given priority for the education of women through free education of girls in rural areas upto degree level.
The Minister also hails the achievement of the CDA in city development and uplift of city dwellers specifically in eduction sector.
He mentioned that CDA chairman has established a school and college in a abandoned place of Mohra aimed at lightening the area with education at grassroot levels.
Special gsuest of the function and CDA chairman Abdus Salam said CDA is an public body under Ministry of Housing and Public works and the key person of the ministry is Engr. Moshraf Hossain and we are delighted for his leadership in this ministry.
He hoped that port city will achieve tremendous development during the remaining period of the present govt. He also hoped that this college will be turned into a university very shortly .
Among others , CDA Board Member Younus Gani Chowdhury, Tipu Sultan Chowdhury, Md. Jasim were present as honourable guests.
 Principal of the college Nurul Alam presided over it. Among others former councilor Nurul Islam, councilor Md. Azam, Chairman of Sikarpur Union Abu Bakkar Siddiqui, Chairman of Burirchar Nusrat Jahan, CDA Secretary Tahera Ferdous , Chief Engineer Jasimuddin, guardians’ representative Nazimuddin, Nasima akhter also spoke in it.
At the end of the function, Minister distributed prizes among the successful students and the winners of the sports competition.
