CCTV to be installed in city soon : CMP

To control the alarming increase of secret killings, militant’s attack and other criminal offenses, Chittagong Metropolitan Police has decided to install high powered CCTV camera before Eid holidays.
 Sources said CMP desires to complete the installations of 102 such CCTV cameras before Eid. In the meantime, a contracting firm named Three Explorers BD Co has been entrusted with the work and a formal verbal Instructions given to that firm, sources said. Sources said the present existing CCTV cameras having resolutions of 1.3 mega fix and now CMP decided to install 2 to 4 Mega fix resolution cameras replacing the old one.
 Asstt. Police Commissioner(ICT) Jahangir Alam told the media that CMP has given verbal order to a contracting firm to install the cameras subject to issue of written work order. Sources said following the verbal order, the work of installing begins from Thursday .
Sources further said 102 CCTV cameras were installed in city’s important points in 2014 under the planning and supervision of the former Additional Deputy Police commissioner Babul Akhter but during the eviction drive of bill boards from the city roads, 81 cameras were removed and the remaining 21 cameras in fact were not properly effective.
Asstt. commissioner Jahangir alam further said CMP has taken initiatives to install high resolutions 250 CCTV camera in the port city gradually and the installation of 102 cameras is expected to be completed before Eid holidays.
