CCCI concerned over issue of IP from Dhaka

Chattogram Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) has urged the agriculture ministry to issue Import Permit (IP) from the Chattogram office of Plant Quarantine Wing (PQW) to facilitate import of food grains.
CCCI sent a letter to agriculture minister Begum Matia Chowdhury requesting her for taking necessary steps in this regard, said a CCCI media release recently.
“IP was issued from Chattogram since 2002 but as per the rules-2018 of PQW, instruction has been given to issue IP from Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) in Dhaka which will create problem for the importers of greater Chottagram,” said CCCI president Mahbubul Salam in the letter.
It is mandatory for importers to take IP before opening Letter of Credit (LC) for the import of food grains such as rice, wheat, maize, oil seeds, spices, fresh and dry fruits.
