AJM Nasir Uddin, Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) claimed 100 percent achievement in keeping up the promise of cleaning up the city of animal wastes within 24 hours.
Mayor termed the cleanup success of CCC only possible due to the responsible role of city dwellers and round the clock activities by cleaners.
The Mayor said the CCC presented the city dwellers a 100 per cent animal waste free city in the night of Aug 12, The city Mayor said people of Chattogram played more responsible role to keep the city clean this year.
They showed more responsible actions in cooperating the city corporations’ initiative to manage waste, he added.
The panel mayor said that the city corporation authorities, as declared earlier, could complete the otherwise challenging task of cleaning waste of sacrificial animals in 24 hours.
Over two lakh animals were sacrificed in CCC area in the 150 designated spots, he said. Around 300 waste disposal vehicles carried 10,500 tons of waste.
Over 5000 cleaners diligently worked to make Chattogram clean in 24 hours, he added. A total of 273 vehicles of CCC are collecting wastes from 41 wards that were grouped in four zones in the city on the day of Eid-ul-Azha. CCC also requesting the city dwellers to contact the control room if wastages were seen anywhere in the port city.
