Thus, the city dwellers have various complaints about the determination of ‘additional’ municipal tax. There are many complaints of not getting the expected service even after paying the tax. In this situation, Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) has agreed to include ‘sanitary tax’ in the new tax schedule-2018. However, the company does not provide any effective services directly to the city dwellers.
According to the Ministry of Local Government, an initiative has been taken to amend the Model Tax Schedule-2018. Meanwhile, an organization named FSM Network proposed the inclusion of sanitary tax at the city corporation level in the local government department.
