Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) is going to introduce Urban Primary Healthcare Project again in the city aimed at extending medicare services to the city dwellers in a cheaper prices.
In the meantime CCC signed the MOUs of Project Deal with Local govt ministry, With patronisation o f Asian Development Bank, the healthcare project will be launched very shortly, said project official o f CCC. Mentionable this healthcare project was conducted in the urban area from 2001 to 2012 . Concerned sources said this urban health project will be implemented in three packages.
Among these package , CCC will implement 2 packages and remaining one will be implemented by NGO. Under two packages o f CCC, there will be 18 healthcare centres and one Maternity clinic in each package.
Through this package, poor city dwellers will get better medicare facilities with 30% free of cost for medicines and maternity services viz. delivery and cesarian operations with nominal prices . Healthcare Cards(Red Cards) will be distributed to the aspirants of poor community by the local ward councilors. Project Director of Abdul Halim told that this healthcare program is expected to begin within next two months. City Mayor AJM Nasiruddin told journalists that, CCC has consented for implementing the project and in the meantime we signed MOU with the local govt ministry. CCC sources said under the urban healthcare project from 2001, the infrastructure s of 8 maternity clinics ad 45 health centres were constructed in the city .
It is hoped that after implementation of the newly proposed urban primary healthcare project, the numbers of health centres and maternity services to the deserved poor community will be increased according to the need of the society.
Ship-breaking yard worker burnt to death : A worker at a ship-breaking yard was burnt to death and five others sustained injuries while dismantling a ship in Sitakunda upazila on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Mohamamd Rubel, a cutting worker of ‘Premier Trade Corporation and Mahinur Ship Recycling’ yard.Zahirul Islam, in-charge of Chattogram Medical College Hospital police camp, said six workers sustained burn injuries when a fire broke out at the pump room of a scrap ship around 8:30am.
They were taken to CMCH where the doctors declared Rubel dead.
