Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) will provide vitamin A capsules to 80,000 children aged 6-11 months and 4 lakh 52 thousand children aged 12-59 months. During this time, the message of giving shawl milk to the newborn within 1 hour of birth and feeding only breast milk for 6 months will be spread.
This information was given by CCC Medical officer Dr. Selim Akhtar Chowdhury in the conference room of CCC General Hospital in Sadarghat on Thursday (December 9) morning.
He said the red and blue vitamin A capsules will be fed to the permanent and temporary immunization centers of CCC from 6 am to 4 pm for four days from Saturday (December 11). Parents will be able to take vitamin A capsules for the excluded children at CCC-run charitable clinics, urban health centers, government and private medical colleges and maternity hospitals. It has been instructed to conduct Vitamin A Plus campaign in compliance with hygiene rules.
He suggested feeding vitamin A to children aged 6 to 59 months on a full stomach. Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury will inaugurate the campaign on December 11 at 9 am at Memon Maternity Hospital in CCC.
Health officer Dr. Md. Ali, Dr. Imam Hossain Rana, Rafiqul Islam, Hasan Murad Chowdhury, Sumon Talukder, Deepa Tripura, Jewel Mahajan, Akil Mohammad, Kalam Chowdhury, Abdur Rahim and others were present on the occasion.Earlier, in the National Vitamin A Plus Campaign on June 5-19, 63,443 people aged 6-11 months and 4,59,071 children aged 12-59 months were given vitamin A capsules.
