The suspended tax collector of Chittagong City Corporation Showkat Ali confessed himself for misappropriation of corporation money that realized as holding tax from the city dwellers amounting to Tk.9.67 lakh.
He committed to the CCC to return this misappropriated amount of money to CCC fund which was not deposited to corporation account after realization.
CCC sources said Showkat Ali, Tax Collector of No.3 Circle who was suspended from service on August 13 last for alleged involved with the misappropriation of public money .
Following the complaints of the tax payees about their holding tax payment against the notice of outstanding taxes, CCC probe team ascertained the misappropriation of holding tax amounting to Tk.9.67 lakh.
CCC sources said suspended Showkat Ali was summoned at CCC office on Thursday last in connection with the misappropriation of CCC money , he pledged to the authority to return back the realized money to CCC within three months .
As first installment , Showkatali deposited Tk.50 thousand to CCC fund instantly and the remaining amount will be deducted from his provident fund account if fails topay by the specific period and departmental actions will be taken against hims for his fraudulence acts, sources said.
