The Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Court of Dhaka yesterday (Wednesday) granted permanent bail to
Monirul Haque Sakku, the newly-elected Mayor of Comilla City Corporation (CCC), in a graft case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). Judge Md Kamrul Hossain Molla of the court passed the order.
Before it, on May 9, the court granted bail to Monirul Haque till May 24 in the graft case filed on charge of concealing information about his wealth.
The court has meanwhile transferred the case to Special Judge Court-8 of Dhaka and fixed June 12 for hearing on framing charges in the case.
On May 7, 2008, Shahin Ara Mamtaz, Assistant Director of ACC, filed a case against the Comilla Mayor and his wife Afroza Jesmin on charge of concealing information about their wealth worth about Tk 120 million and amassing wealth of Tk 40.57 million illegally.
