Four standing committees were constituted in Chittagong City Corporation yesterday comprising the elected councilors in the second general meeting of CCC held with city Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin in the chair.
CCC sources said under the existing rules of Local Govt(City Corp) Act, standing committees may be formed on 14 basic subjects with terms of 2 and a half years of these committees. As per decision of the second general meeting, four standing committees have been formed , sources said.
These committee consists of 7 councilors headed by one President and Member secretary. These standing committees are – Finance & Establishment committee, Waste Management committee, Education, Health & family planning and Sports & cultural committee headed by councilors Md. Shafiul Alam, Saibal Das Sumon, Nazmul Hoque Duick and Ismail Hossain Bali respectively.
The meeting also thanked the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for sanctioning fund for Tk.200 cr for repairs and reconstruction of the city roads, sources said.
