Chattogram City Corporation elections today (Wednesday). On this occasion, the authorities have declared a holiday in all the factories of the two Export Processing Zones (EPZs) of the port city.
Mashiuddin bin Mezbah, General Manager of Chattogram Export Processing Zone (CEPZ), told the media that out of our 154 factories, 134 are in operation. About 2.5 lakh workers work in these factories. All factories will be closed on Wednesday, the day of the CCC election.
Mohammad Enamul Haque, general manager of Karnafuli Export Processing Area, told that out of our 51 factories, 43 are in operation. On the day of CCC election, we have issued holiday circulars in all the factories as per the instructions of the authorities.
He said 70,000 workers work in different factories of the K EPZ.
