CCC constructing marine road costing Tk 125m

The Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) is constructing a 1.30-km long marine road at a cost of Tk 125 million.
The 28 feet wide road is being constructed from Feeringhee Bazar to Shah Amanat Bridge in order to facilitate the movement to access the port city for the residents of South Chittagong.
A total of four bridges have already been constructed on the road.
The Mariners’ Road construction work started back in 2011 and is scheduled to be completed by June this year. But the completion date has been extended to June 30, 2015.
This road will facilitate the traffic movement of a large number of people of south Chittagong including tourist place like Cox’s Bazar and Bandarban. The traffic congestion will also be eased out remarkably.
Some 50,000 vehicles including buses, microbuses, pick-up vans, cars and auto-rickshaws of 18 different routes on average passes through the Shah Amanat Bridge, Kalurghat Railway Bridge to enter into the port city. Marine Academy, Chittagong Urea Fertilizer Limited (CUFL), multi-national company KAFCO, ship building yard and Korean Export Processing Zone (KEPZ) are situated on the south bank of the river Karnaphuli.
