The Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) workers have cleaned the entire city within 12 hours of the butchering of the sacrificial animals on October 6 (Monday), the Eid day.
The CCC sources said a total of 3,000 workers had been engaged to remove the wastages of the sacrificial animals in the city on the Eid day only.
The workers started their cleanliness drive since 10:00am on the day that had continued till mid night.
CCC Mayor Alhaj M Manzur Alam visited different areas of the city in the evening to see for himself the cleanliness drive of the CCC workers.
The CCC authority was divided into 41 wards into four divisions to conduct the cleanliness drive while a control room was opened to conduct the drives successfully.
The authority further appointed several vigilance teams to inspect the drive and installed a total of 30 containers in different areas of the city to dispose the wastages of the sacrificial animals.
Besides, 150 trucks, 10 container movers, 15 trolleys, and 50 vans were sent on the city streets to remove the wastes all the day.
The CCC workers also sprayed bleaching powders on the butchering spots of sacrificial animals in the city.
Besides, a shower of rain in the evening also helped removing the odour of the animal wastages.
City dwellers have sacrificed more than four lakh animals marking the Eid-ul Azha.
So, it was a hard task to clean the city at a time within 12 hours. But the workers of CCC had done the job.
