CCC chief joins conservancy programs in city

During the inauguration of the mosquito eradication program amidst lightning and rain, news came that water was stuck in the canal of Ishaq Pool in Bakalia. Upon hearing the news, CCCC administrator Khorshed Alam Sujan rushed towards the canal area yesterday morning.
Below the pool are two large iron pipes of the WASA connection line obstructed large water hyacinths, grass, various weeds, herbs and shrubs are stuck and resisting the flow of water in the canal.
 Hundreds of workers of CCC went down to clean the garbage by themselves. Black water can be seen to remove long-term garbage.
Sujan also called the WASA engineer from the spot to remove the pipe and make alternative arrangements.
Inaugurating the mosquito eradication program, Sujan said most of the canals, including Chaktai and Maheshkhal, are now full of garbage.
The corporation has started cleaning these wastes to eradicate mosquitoes. I will take strict action if I see any dirt or garbage in the canals and drains that will be cleaned in future.
Calling on the city dwellers to boycott polythene, he said the bottom of Karnafuli river is full due to polythene. Polythene traders were also asked to find alternative trade routes.
Meanwhile, CCC Executive Magistrate Marufa Begum Nelly and Special Magistrate (Joint District and Sessions Judge) Jahanara Ferdous led a mobile court at various places on Wednesday to evict the illegal establishments beside the canals and khals.
