City Mayor of Chattogram AJM Nasiuddin announced annual budget amounting to Tk 2486 crores for the fiscal 2019-20 of City Corporation at the meeting of budget session held at Theatre Institute Hall in the city as Chief Guest on Tuesday afternoon.
In his budget speech, Mayor said to fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the city dwellers and development of environment, technology and economic progress, this pragmatic budget was formulated . He also approved the revised budget of Tk.2045.52 crores for 2018-19 fiscal. This is the fourth and last budget of the incumbent Mayor and it is expected that the next CCC election is scheduled to be held after 8 months. He informed that out of budget of fiscal 2018-19 , an amount of Tk.851.25 crores handed over to District Administration for land acquisition from Bahaddarhat to Karnaphuli for digging canal . Renovations of waterlogging affected 59 kilometer road, construction of 20 kms retaining wall, 14 KMs drain ,4 bridge and two culverts under progressing . Construction of 7 residential buildings of each 14 storied for the conservancy staffs are under process , he added. He further apprised that under JAICA project Batch-1 , Batch-2, constructions of bridge, retaining wall amounting to Tk.362 cr is undergoing and expected to be completed by January 2020.
The budget speech was told that Prime Minister has consented for Tk.260.90 crores for city street lighting with LED light in 466 KMs road within the city aimed at beautification of the city.
City Mayor further said approval of Service Rule for CCC was the great achievement of the present elected body of the corporation and hence he is so grateful to the Prime Minister on behalf of the Chattogram city dwellers. Chief Executive officer Md Shamsudoha conducted the budget meeting . Among others, Panel Mayor Chowdhury Hasan Mahmud, Chief Engineer Lt. col. Mohiuddin were present on the occasion.
