Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani and Atletico Madrid defender Jose Maria Gimenez have returned to Uruguay’s squad for 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Colombia and Brazil. Cavani missed the Celeste’s opening qualifying fixtures against Chile and Ecuador last month as he searched for a new club, while Gimenez was absent because of unspecified muscular problems. As expected, manager Oscar Tabarez also included Gimenez’s Atletico teammate Luis Suarez and Benfica striker Darwin Nunez in his 23-man squad. The latter has scored five goals in 10 matches for the Portuguese side this season. Uruguay will meet Colombia in Barranquilla on November 13 and Brazil in Montevideo four days later.
