The government has started a joint survey to identify the major causes of traffic jam and find its remedies in the capital city.
“A joint survey by police with the help of a Chinese Company is now on to identify the major causes of traffic jam in the city and devise ways to ease it,” Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan told BSS here on Monday.
He said the traffic system of Dhaka city collapsed before the Holy Eid-Ul-Fitr as police started operation of automated traffic system to regulate the vehicular movement. Officials of the Ministry of Home said the country’s capital city has been experiencing traffic congestion, which has reached an intolerable stage. They said traffic congestion is one of the major problems in the country.
According to the officials, the government is to put in operation a new method to curb road accidents across the country. Police would apply the punching machine on driving license in each road accident, they said.
In this way, they said, a driving license would also be punched two times for the same number of road accidents and during the third time, the license would be cancelled.
