Cattle trader hurt in BSF firing

Border Security Force (BSF) of India shot at a Bangladeshi cattle trader and injured him on the Phulbari frontier in Kurigram district early Tuesday. The injured has been identified as Shamsher Ali, son of late Alimuddin from village Bhurearkuti under Shimulbari union in Phulbari upazila.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) sources said that, a group of cattle traders from both India and Bangladesh tried to cross the border near pillar No. 937 in the upazila with 20 to 25 cattle.
Just then, BSF patrol team of Tharaikhana camp
in Coochbihar district in the Indian state of West Bengal fired several rounds of bullets indiscriminately. At this, cattle trader Shamsher Ali received bullet injury in his right leg.
However, when his two friends recovered him and were returning, BGB members caught them. The other two were Zahedul, 30, son of Abdul Jalil, and Abdus Salam, 32, son of Abu Bakr from the same village. Shimulbari Company Commander of 45 BGB Battalion Suberder Moqbul Hossain admitting the incident told this correspondent that three persons, including the injured Shamser Ali, were handed over to Police. A protest letter was sent to BSF following the incident.
