Hathazari police OC Mohammad Ismail on Sunday night said one of them was lodged under the Arms Act and the other under the Explosives Act.
Chittagong Metropolitan Police Detective Branch’s Sub-Inspector Farrukh Ahmed filed the cases, he told the media persons yesterday. Both cases accused four people. Three of them, suspected JMB members, were arrested in different areas of the port city during raids on Saturday.
They are Naimur Rahman Nayan, Faisal Mahmud, and Shawkat Rasel. All of them are students of the Chittagong University, police said.The other accused is ‘JMB commander’ Mohammad Fardin who is on the run.Following information given by Rasel during questioning, police raided Fardin’s house at Hathazari’s Aman Bazar early on Sunday.
An MK 11 sniper rifle, ammunition, explosives, detonators, pieces of the Bangladesh Army uniform and bomb-making materials were found inside his flat on the ground floor of that building.
