The law enforcing agencies have remained in dark about the trace of the Chawkbazar inferno case accused who had been blamed for the death of 71 people recently.
Cops personnel could not trace the places where are the two key accused and owners of Wahed Mansion Md Hasan and Sohel alias Sheed.
The common people, including locals have expressed their anxiety, as police could not arrest the accused even after filing of two cases three day ago in connection with the inferno incident.
The investigators also could not ensure the whereabouts the accused, cops sources said.
Even Police could not say anything even after getting the charge of probing the incident, they said.
Chawkbazar Police Station Inspector and Investigation Officer (IO) M Muradul Islam said, “We have interrogated some locals about the accused, but they did not provide any information. For this reason we could not trace the whereabouts of the accused.”
“We are hunting the accused using the technology and ordinary system as the incident had already created a far cry across the country, the police official said.
The relatives of the accused informed the cops that they left homes after the incident and did not come back, he informed.
Nazim, a local, said that police are in silence mood over the cases in connection with the inferno.
The Deputy Commissioner of Lalbagh Dibvision of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Ibrahim Khan said that a charge sheet will be submitted against those found to be negligent
Earlier, two separate cases were filed in connection with the deadly fire that broke out in the Chawkbazar area of Old Dhaka on Wednesday night.
On behalf of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Sub-Inspector Delwar Hossain recorded an unnatural death (UD) case with Chawkbazar Police Station.
In addition, Md Asif Hossain, a local resident, filed another case with the same police station against two known persons and 10-12 unknown ones, Chawkbazar Police Station Sub-Inspector Abdul Halim confirmed.
In his case statement, Asif said the inferno broke out due to the negligence of the building owner and the tenants of the house. He demanded compensation for the victims of all kinds.
The devastating fire broke out at a chemical warehouse and raged through four other adjacent buildings in the city’s Chawkbazar area on February 20, leaving 71 people killed and more than 50 others injured.
