Murder of two AL leaders: Cases filed against UP chairman, 30 others in Bagerhat

Following the brutal murder of two Awami League leaders in Daibanjahati Union Parishad under Morrelganj Upazila in Bagerhat district two separate cases were registered with Morrelganj PS against 31 persons including the UP Chairman-one for the double murders and the other under Arms Act on Thursday night after long four days of the tragic incident.
The plaintiff of the murder case is Shaikh Faruk Ahmed, elder brother of deceased Shaikh Shukur, former Jubo League leader while the other case was registered by the police under Arms Act. UP Chairman Shahidul Fakir is the main accused of both the cases.  
On October 01 , Ansar Ali Dihidar (53), General Secretary of Daibanjahati Union Awami League and Shaikh Shukur, former Jubo League leader were beaten mercilessly, inflicted cut injuries on their person and at last they shot dead. In this connection police arrested 12 persons including UP Chairman Fakir suspecting their involvement in the murder. On Friday more police were deployed there. Shaikh Faruk Ahmed, the plaintiff of the murder case is the Joint General Secretary of Daibanjahati UP Awami League.
 K M Azizul Haq, OC of Morrelganj PS said , after the incident police recovered 3 fire arms including the licensed gun of the UP Chairman, ammunitions and some other materials used in the murder from the place of occurrence. In this connection Thakur Das Mondol, SI (investigation) registered a case with the PS against 5 persons under Arms Act. UP chairman Shahidul is the main accused of the case. All the accused persons of the arm case were already arrested. It is stated in the murder case that on Monday a number of armed men of UP Chairman caught Ansar Ali Dihidar, Shaikh Shukur and Babul Shaikh, Labour-Secretary of Daibanjahati UP Tanti League from the different places and brought them to Daibanjahati Union Parishad Office at arms point. Then the armed men beat them (those were brought to the UP office at gun point) severely, inflicted cut injuries on their person and at last they opened gun fire on them. As a result, Shaikh Shukur was killed on the spot while Ansar Ali Dihidar succumbed to his injuries in Khulna Medical College Hospital on the same day while he was undertaking treatment.
The plaintiff of the murder case told, in order to divert the murder to other channel they (deceased and injured persons) were forced to wear Burkhas and announced in a mike that they (deceased and injured persons) had come there to murder the UP Chairman.
 The officer-in-charge told. After the incident 12 persons including the UP Chairman Shahidul Fakir were arrested u/s 54 BPC and they were sent to the jail hajat through the court. 7 out of them are accused of both the cases.
 They were shown arrested. He added, police are very active to arrest the other accused persons. Petition will be placed before the court for their remand in order to interrogate them for further information.
 Policed disclosed, it is found in a primary investigation that the accused UP Chairman forcibly occupied a fish farm of Shaikh Shukur at Mitradanga within Daibanjahati Union Parishad. Later Shukur re-occupied the fish farm with the help of Ansar Ali Dihidar. Since then a strong enmity was developed between the UP chairman and the deceased persons. It is, perhaps, the main causebehind the murder.
 Ansar Ali Dihidar hailed from the village Daibanjahati and Shaikh Shukur hailed from Joka within the Uion Parishad.
