A lawyer of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh yesterday (Monday) filed a case in public interest to withdraw bus stop and illegal occupation on pavements in front of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) and BIRDEM Hospital in the capital.
Advocate Prashanta Kumar Karmakar lodged the case with Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Monday.
The complainant told newsmen that the court took the case into cognizance but did not pass any order.
Following a recently published newspaper report on
traffic irregularities, illegal occupation of pavement and sufferings of patients, the case was filed in public interest, the lawyer added.
BSMMU Director (Administration), BIRDEM Director (Administration) and on behalf of Bangladesh Government- Ramna Traffic Police DC, DMP Police DC of Ramna Zone and OCs of Ramna and Shahbagh Police Stations were made accused in the case.
