Case lodged for demanding toll, giving life threat

A case has been lodged with Kotwali police station of Barishal Metropolitan Police against local hooligans for demanding toll from a diagnostic center giving life threats under arms in the city.
The prime accused was Syed Rafikul Islam Raju, a local hooligan and son of late Abdul Mannan, was a terror of the area and arrested earlier in different times as accused for terrorism and toll collection.
Mujibul Huq, chairman of Prime Diagnostic Center at Belleview Ally on Sadar Road of the city center, as complainant lodged the case on early Tuesday.
Nurul Islam, officer in charge of Kotwali police station, said the case was lodged two days after the date of occurrence on early Tuesday with the copy of footage recorded in a CCTV camera of the spot. Police trying to arrest the accused.
In the case the complainant alleged that Raju with his associate at 6:30 AM Friday calling Iqbal Hossain Arif, manager of the diagnostic center to outside demanded monthly Tk.2 lakhs as toll or to hand over to police by giving some pieces of Yaba in his pocket.
Raju and his associate showing sharp weapon and fire arms tried to forcibly take signature on blank bank cheque against demanded toll.
The hooligans also threatened to amputate hands and legs of the owner of the diagnostic center, if his demanded toll would not be given regularly.
Kamal Sardar, managing director, of Prime Diagnostic Center, said they operating business in that premises for more than a decade.
However accused hooligan Raju regularly collecting charges for medical testes forcibly from the patients pays a minimum portion to the concerned diagnostic centers.
So he and others trying to avoid Raju since last few years and Raju becoming agitated gave life threats and cautioned about police harassment under arms on Friday early morning which was recorded in their CCTV camera, he added.
