Farmers Bank loan scam: Case hearing today against Babul Chisty

The hearing of a case filed by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) against ex-Farmers Bank’s Audit Committee Chairman Mahbubul Haq Chisti will be held today (Sunday) in Dhaka Court.
ACC approved a charge sheet against five people, including the former chairman of Farmers Bank Limited (FBL) Audit Committee on charges of misappropriating around Tk160 crore.
ACC Deputy Director Mohammad Shamsul Alam, Investigating Officer of the case, submited the charge sheet in the court.
Under the Money Laundering Act, Shamsul Alam filed the case against the accused, with Gulshan Police Station on April 10, 2018.
According to case documents, the accused, in collaboration with few other bank officials, opened 25 accounts in different branches of the bank in the names of their family members and respective organizations.
The others accused are: Chisty’s wife, Rosy, and his son Rashedul Haque, FBL Senior Vice-President Zia Uddin Ahmed, and First President of Bakshiganj Branch in Kamalapur (currently discharged), Muhammad Masudur Rahman Khan.
