Case goes to DB

A case filed accusing 19 students in connection with the killing of BUET meritorious student Abrar Fahad has been transferred to the Detective Branch (DB) of Police.
DMP Deputy Commissioner M Masudur Rahman confirmed the matter on Tuesday noon.
Abrar’s father Barkatullah filed the case with Chawkbazar Police Station accusing 19 students on Monday.
Meanwhile, the arrested 10 leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League have been placed on a five-day remand each in the murder case.
The accused have been identified as Mehedi Hasan Rasel of Civil Engineering Batch-13, General Secretary of Buet BCL, Muhtasim Fuad of Civil Engineering Batch-14 Vice-President, Mehedi Hasan Robein of Chemical Engineering Batch-15, the Organising Secretary, Anik Sarker of Mechanical Engineering Batch-15, the Secretary of Information and Research Affairs, Ishtiaq Ahmed Munna of Mechanical Engineering Batch-15, the Publication Affairs Secretary, Ifti Mosharraf Shakal of Biomedical Engineering Batch-16, the Deputy Social Welfare Secretary, Meftahul Islam Zion of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering Batch-15, the Sports Secretary, Muzahidur Rahman Muzahid of Civil Engineering Batch-17, Muntasir Alam Jemi of Chemical Engineering Batch-18 and Khandaker Tabakhkharul Islam Tanvir of Mechanical Engineering Batch-17.
Mahbubur Rahman, Joint Commissioner of Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), told this to media on Tuesday noon.
He said, “The 10 accused were grilled for the incident. They confessed to their involvement in the killing.”
ADC Rajib Al Masud (DB South Zone) said that Amit Saha, another accused of Abrar murder would be brought to justice.
Besides, other accused are under monitoring. They would be arrested any time. For this, several teams of police are working in this regard, ADC added.
Meanwhile, the court has fixed November 13 for filing of a probe report on the murder of BUET student Abrar Fahad.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sadbir Yasir Ahasan Chowdhury on Tuesday (October 8th) fixed the time to submit the report.
 Earlier, Abrar Fahad, 21, a second year meritorious student of Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), died due to the brutual torture by the Chhatra League members and leaders.
