Police have filed a case under the Anti-Terrorism Act after the anti-militant operation at Hotel Olio International in the city’s Panthapath.
Kalabagan Police Station’s Sub-Inspector Syed Imrul Shahed filed the case on Wednesday morning, said Maruf Hasan Sarder, Deputy Commissioner of Ramna Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
Saiful Islam, suspected to be a member of Neo JMB, had been killed, the police official said.
Police suspected that Saiful and several other militants planned to bomb a procession at Dhanmondi 32, the DC said.
The hotel is just a few hundred metres from Bangabandhu Memorial Museum, where the President and the Prime Minister paid tributes to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the National Mourning Day, mere hours before the raid.
