Case filed over Munshiganj CPB leader killing

A case was filed over the murder of Shahjahan Bachchu, former general secretary of district unit Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), on Tuesday.
Victim’s wife Afsana Jahan filed the case with Sirajdikhan Police Station accusing four unidentified people.
Earlier on Monday, Shahjahan Bachchu, 55, owner of Bishakha Publication, was shot to death by miscreants at Kakalodi of Sirajdikhan upazila.
Additional Police Superintendent (Sirajdikhan circle) Asaduzzaman said four miscreants on two motorcycles opened fire on Bachchu just before the iftar, killing him on the spot.
Later on Tuesday, the postmortem of Bacchu was conduct at Munshiganj General Hospital. Shakhawat Hossain, Resident Medical Officer of the hospital, said injury marks of bullet piercing were found on the chest of the body.
Bachchu was laid to rest at his family graveyard after a namaz-e-janaza at Kakalodi Government Pimary School ground after Asr prayer on Tuesday.
Mohammad Jayedul Alam, superintendent of Munshiganj police, said the killers used country made bombs and blasted those before the murder. Besides, a bomb-like object, wrapped with red scotch tape was found near the spot.
