Attack on Shamim: Case filed against three accused

A case was filed in the connection the attack on former Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) President AKM Enamul Haque Shamim on Friday night.
Three persons have been accused in the case but none was named. In the case details, the plaintiff said that the BNP, the Jamaat-e-Islami and the local rivals could be behind the attack.
Shamim’s uncle Nasir Ahmed lodged the case around 11:00pm with the Dhanmondi Police Station, said Sub-Inspector Iftekharul Alam.
According to case details, three unidentified motorcycle riders opened fire on Shamim’s car in an attempt to kill him when the vehicle was in front of Ibn Sina Hospital at Dhanmondi on Thursday.
Miscreants targetted Shamim, a member of Awami League’s central committee.
He was rushed to Bangladesh Medical College and Hospital at first and finally shifted to Combined Military Hospital for better treatment.
He was shot twice in his left hand, doctors said.
Shamim served as BCL president from 1994 to 1998. He was also a leader of Jahangirnagar University (JU) unit.
Hailing from Shariatpur, Shamim was Vice-President of JU Central Students’ Union from 1989 to 1991.
