Staff Reporter :Father of Sourav Mia, the 10-year-old boy who sustained bullet injuries in the legs, filed an attempt to murder case against Gaibandha-1 ruling Awami League lawmaker Manzurul Islam Liton on Saturday. Officer-in-Charge of Sundarganj Police Station Israil Hossain said that there is no other accused in the case except MP. “MP Liton also surrendered his licensed pistol and a shotgun to the police station in the evening. On behalf of MP, his brother in-law Tariqul Islam deposited the firearms.”The OC said: “Deputy Commissioner of Gaibandha Abdus Samad ordered MP Liton to surrender the firearms following allegations of shooting a minor boy.The ruling Awami League lawmaker Liton, however, was not available despite repeated attempts through phone last night. MP Liton is the president of Awami League’s Sundarganj upazila unit. Earlier on Friday, he shot Sourav Mia of Gopalcharan village in Sundarganj apparently without any reason.There are also allegations that the lawmaker fired gunshots to scare off the family from taking the boy to a hospital and that they had to lie their way out of the situation.
