Case filed against Lohagara Upazila Parishad Chairman

A case has been filed against Upazila Parishad Chairman Ziaul Haque Chowdhury Babul and his supporters for going viral on social media while trying to occupy land in Chittagong’s Lohagara.
The victim, Sirajul Haque, son of Mahmudul Haque of Boaliarkul area of Amirabad Union, filed the case with Lohagara Police Station on Friday afternoon. Twelve people were named as accused in the case. The firearms and license were seized on Thursday afternoon, police said.
The accused in the case are Lohagara Upazila Chairman Ziaul Haque Chowdhury Babul, Inzamul Haque Yuvraj, son of Shamsul Haque Chowdhury of Darbeshhat Saudagar Para, Shamsul Haque, son of late Ashraf Miah, Md. Hanif Uddin, son of Obaidul Haque of Darbeshhat Saudagar Para, Md. Selim Uddin and Md. Rashed, son of late Ahmad Kabir of Darbesh Hat. Besides, 20/30 more people have been made anonymous accused.
Lohagara Police Station OC Jaker Hossain Mahmud said the victim had filed a case against Sirajul Haque Police Station, naming 12 people as accused in the case. Police have collected the video clip and identified the firearms practitioners. Those firearms and licenses have been seized. He said police efforts to arrest the accused were continuing.

It may be mentioned that for a long time there was a dispute between Upazila Chairman Ziaul Haque Chowdhury Babul and Mahmudul Haque adjacent to Ma-Moni Hospital in Amirabad Boaliarkul area. Last Wednesday (September 15) afternoon, the chairman’s men chased each other to put up a gate in the opposition place. After a while, Upazila Chairman Babul came to the spot with weapons and sticks. At one stage, he fired several rounds at the opponent’s position and threw bricks. A 4 minute 53 second video of the incident quickly spread on social media Facebook.
