The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka fixed March 2 for submission of the probe report in the case filed against actress Shomi Kaiser.
Magistrate Ziaur Rahman of the CMM Court passed the order as Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) could not submit the report on Tuesday.Mia Md Nuzhatul Hachan, Editor of an online news portal named studentjournalbd.com, filed a defamation case against the actress with the court on April 30, last year.
The case was filed for “defaming” journalists by searching them after the actress lost her two smart phones at a programme in the Jatiya Press Club on April 24.
According to media reports, after giving a speech at an inaugural ceremony of a website, Shomi Kaiser, President of e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB), noticed that her phones were lost.
Right after that incident, the security guards locked the gates and searched all the journalists and guests present there in the function.
Around 50 journalists and more than one hundred guests were stuck there for more than half an hour following the incident.
Following a court order, Shahbagh Police Station conducted investigation into the incident, but found nothing about the allegation.
Meanwhile, it was revealed from the footage recorded by journalists that the phones were stolen by a worker who brought a cake for the programme.
Later, on November 25 of last year, court directed PBI to re-investigate the incident of the case.
