Prothom Alo senior reporter Rozina Islam’s case, filed under Official Secrets Act, has been shifted to the Detective Branch (DB) of police as per the direction of the top level of the government.
Shahbagh police handed over all the papers of the lawsuit to the DB police of Ramna Division on Wednesday.Ramna Division’s deputy commissioner HM Azizul Huque confirmed the matter.
Now, the DB will investigate the case.
Mishu Biswas, additional deputy commissioner of DB Ramna Division, said, “We have received all the papers of the case and will investigate it following proper process.”
Rozina was sent to Kashimpur Women’s Jail on Tuesday after her bail was rejected in a case filed for “stealing” government documents and taking photographs of them on her mobile phone without permission.
She was detained at the Ministry of Health inside the Bangladesh Secretariat on Monday night.
Deputy Secretary of Health Services Shibbir Ahmed filed the case against her with Ramna Police Station later at night.
