A Dhaka court yesterday (Sunday) fixed October 7 to pronounce order in the case filed against BNP Vice-Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu on the charge of threatening to kill Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Magistrate Baki Billa of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka deferred the date on Sunday.
Earlier, Jubo League Joint Secretary Mahi Uddin Ahmed Mahi filed the case with the CMM Court on September 19.
Mahi said in the case that the BNP leader threatened the Prime Minister in an interview programme on a private television channel on September 17. Later, the video went viral in social media which created panic in the society. The complainant sought against warrant of arrest for BNP leader Shamsuzzaman Dudu.
Meanwhile, another case was filed on the same day against BNP Vice-Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu with Chief Judicial Magistrate Court of Chattogram for the same reason.
Md Nurul Alam, President of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Rangunia Upazila unit filed this case against Dudu with the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate, Jayanty Rani Ray, on Wednesday.
The petitioner alleged that Dudu threatened the Prime Minister during a recent talk-show titled ‘Raj Kahon’ at Ekattor Television saying that Sheikh Hasina would be killed like Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) Nikhil Kumar Nath moved for the petitioner in the court. He was assisted by General Secretary of Chattagram Bar Association Advocate Aiyub Khan and Senior Advocate Iftekhar Samiul Chowdhury.
The court after hearing the submissions of the lawyers ordered the Officer- in-Charge (OC) of Rangunia Thana to take the allegation as a sedition case after taking necessary approval from the state.
Meanwhile, two more similar cases were filed against Shamsuzzaman Dudu on Sunday with a court of Rangpur and another court of Brahmanbaria for the same offence.
