Cargo capsizes in Kirtankhola, crew rescued

A cargo vessel Karnafuli-5 carrying raw materials from Chittagong for Anchor Cement Factory of Barisal capsized on Kirtankhola River near Charmonai, about 8-kilometer away from Barisal Port at about 9:20 pm on Saturday night.
 The cargo was capsized after Dhaka -bound triple-deck passenger launch Sundarban-7 hit the vessel, alleged owner of the cargo Md. Salauddin .
Eleven crew of the cargo vessel rescued by swimming, fishing boats and other water transports, he added.
 Master of the launch after the collision succeeded to stuck the vessel on a shoal for safety and sending messages told that bottom of the launch severely damaged and cracked , said Gazi Riaz one of the passenger of cabin-216 on board of the launch.
 Md. Shahidullah, Barisal river port officer and deputy director BIWTA (01711-316171), from the spot confirming the report, said the launch left Barisal port for Dhaka at about 8:50 pm with about 800 passengers and the incident happened at about 9:20 pm.
